About a year ago I set upon a new adventure, to determine if the dummy load I own, traditionally seen as a device that doesn’t emit any RF, to determine if it was in fact imbued with the ability to absorb RF, rather than share it around like an antenna might.

Made the King Arthur “Big and Bubbly Focaccia” recipe - new favorite way to make focaccia! It develops a fantastic crust while remaining springy and moist inside. Topped with rosemary and confit garlic, forgot to take a pic before we started digging in 😅

We got a cat and while we love that little bugger he does have his zoomie phases where he runs around and often attacks our door frames. See screenshot for how that looks.

Background: I’ve started a second round of seeds indoors, this time a mix of cucumbers (spacemaster and muncher) and tomatoes (tiny tim and marglobe). For my first round in April I used those Jiffy peat pellets, which I don’t think I’ll use again b/c I’m reading online that the mesh netting may not break down as quickly as I had initially thought. For my second round I used a mix of Jiffy seed starting mix and coco coir as recommended by Gary Pilarchik of Rusted Garden, which I also used to pot up my first round seedlings into 3” pots. I hydrated the mix w/ three pots of boiling water as shown in Gary’s video and then let it sit for a day or two before using it.

i’ve been battling this wrinkling phenomenon for weeks. it shows up at random, and i can’t figure out what i’m doing wrong. i’ve changed layer height. i’ve checked the z-offset of the extruder. i’ve lowered acceleration to 1/10th of normal. i’ve lowered the flow rate. i’ve raised the flow rate. i’ve cleaned the plate with soapy water and IPA. i’ve checked for bumps on plate and the bed. i’ve flipped the plate over. i’ve done automatic and manual levelling. i’ve redone the bed compensation calibration like twelve times. i’ve moved and rotated my print. i’ve tried different colours, materials and makes. i’ve dried the filaments to under 10% humidity. i’ve switched extruders. i’ve placed the printer on a mass damper (a 25kg slab of concrete on top of a 2cm thick rubber granule mat). the last thing i did was physically holding on to the extruder as it moved (that’s what that thicker band in the top left is).

Recently, I finally received a body for my Barbie Modern Circle Melody. It took me a long time to decide on the right body. Certainly, I like Mattel MTM (Barbie Made to Move bodies) visually and I really appreciate the more realistic proportions and variety. But their quality is terrible - from mismatched skintones between different body parts to really awful joints. That’s why I prefer using MengF bodies for my hybrids.

I have a 40m dipole that I’m trying to get set up. I have tried laying it along my 3rd story roof line and roof deck arbor. It seems to get great reception; I can hear lots of activity on 40m, including at least Tennessee (from New England) based on my minimal ability to copy call signs in CW.

I was looking at all the branded cups, Seeing things I didn’t need, but this made me pause. Would you guys buy them? I talked myself out of it but the Cas cup is still tempting me.

It’s been an ordeal but I’m (mostly) done with this. I tried using an iflash quad, a zif-cf-microsd adapter, and finally got this zif-msata adapter. The only one that worked is this setup. Worked is a loose term since this is supposed to be a 256gb ssd but its showing as 128gb… Anyways, the pictures below show the steps.
