Basically the title. I have no idea what’s in the market, how much that would cost, or even where to look.

I have an older computer that I use for some simple games. Its I5-7400, GTX-1050, 12GB memory, and an SSD - not new by any standards, but most of the games I’m playing are a decade old or more. I switched to Linux Mint today, since I don’t want to use Windows 11, but the performance on Mint is terrible compared to Windows 10. For example, in Portal 2’s native Linux version, I get like 10 fps in the title screen. War Thunder doesn’t even launch. The drivers are set to Nvidia’s proprietary drivers via the GUI. Am I missing something? I’d really rather not switch back to Windows.

greetings my fellow Penguins. as per the title. shit brokey. I launched the game for the first time yesterday and it just would not work. all the buttons work just not the mouse move = camera move. even in the menu dragging it doesn’t work till I scroll or click a button.

Hi, Got a creative game (scriptorium) running through steam on bazzite. In that game you can save projects as pngs. If I click on show folder in the game in opens an emulated windows explorer with path c steamuser … As a workaround I can copy it here and paste it into my actual files but does anyone know there I can find these emulated windows paths?

Hi I’m trying to install #Batocera to the Laptop SSD (Dell Latitude 5491). I disabled secure boot and set it to ACHI (or something like that). I can live boot from the USB drive but the installer only works with Ethernet (5GHz internet connection) and gets stuck at 0%. Since when does a linux distro need a network connection to install itself on the system?

As the title says, for a brief time a while ago I modded valheim and found r2modman and felt it was one of if not the best experience I’ve had modding games, it was especially sweet because I could mod the game with my friend who’s on windows and the process was the exact same so helping them was no issue.

I like the idea of having split controller. So I want to use them with my main rig. And out of the box the controller part works well. It finally connected with the android mode (legion right + a). As noted in the title, I am trying to figure out the safest way to update the firmware on my recently purchased Keychron K1 QMK V6 keyboard. I was finally able to get the web based Keychron Launcher app to talk to my KB after using chmod to give the correct HIDRAW device read-write access but it looks like the new firmware needs another utility to be installed and only the Windoze directions are provided.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for a cheap, old laptop to put Linux on and mess around with. I mainly want to see if I can find replacement software for some of the stuff I do on my Windows desktop, but maybe also some light gaming with Steam and Heroic launcher. I’d like to get some opinions on what brands/models I should be looking for on Craiglist/Ebay/etc.? Thanks!

I have a problem when installing games from other places than steam. First time I had it was when I wanted to play diablo 4 through the battlenet launcher (I do not own it on steam) so I installed battlenet through steam and then launched the launcher. Installed, played the game, no problem but the next time I booted the battlenet launcher Diablo 4 was gone. I did try it again and reinstalled and for some reason it just worked forever (untill I uninstalled it myself).

Every night, I put my computer to sleep. But should I be shutting it down every now and then? For example, maybe once a week or once a month?
