I’m not even bothering to watermark this one. I was standing on the loading dock at work this morning and heard a distinctive squeaking coming from the power pylon on the ridge behind the building. Sure enough, our local bald eagle was sitting on it.
Picture taken 3/9 in Central Ohio. I was out to see the woodcocks at sunset, which I did, but it was too dark for pictures at that point. I did however get a couple of late-day pictures of calling Eastern Meadowlarks. Very nice colors. I am also getting used to my new camera, having upgraded from a Lumix G85 to an OM-1 mk ii. Also using new processing tools, PureRaw 6 & RapidRAW 1.5.1.
Its really hard to enjoy a nice day on the beach when this guy decides to sun himself right in front of you. I contacted the local bird rescue, but he hopped in the water before I could get close.
Possibly the dullest appearing bird in the world: “like a sparrow but more grey”, but this one was looking quite cute this morning: just a shame my skills(*) and the light were not of the best.
I was hoping for a better selection to pick from before heading off for a couple of weeks, but alas, the light was poor and the subjects I could spot few.
The return of one of the pairs of house finches who nest in the awning above my kitchen window, I presume. This one was giving it quite a thorough look.
My Mum gave some birds seeds and I added due to some being a bit hostile. Never seen so many Cardinals at once, this was exciting to watch. Thought I share a picture.
One of the more interesting visitors to the feeders during this silly blizzard. For some reason my R10’s autofocus really has trouble with them in particular, at least in these conditions. I gave up and winged it. This was the best I got through the window.
A Red Kite in Prospect Park, Reading, UK today was swooping in low having spotted something on the ground - I was pleased to catch this as it made off - no lazy glide here!
I bought a bird feeder last year, and hung it up in my front yard. All told I had practically no takers, and despite being marketed as “squirrel proof,” which by and large it was, the stupid thing wasn’t watertight in the slightest so every time it so much as misted the seed would get wet and the whole thing would jam up.
